Succulents and Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Link Party 4/29/17

Welcome to our link party!  How are things in your area?  Weather-wise, it was 25 degrees here in Nevada last night, about 62 and sunny right now, and should warm up into the 70's daily this week.  I am ready to have some warm weather!

I had a pleasant surprise when I stopped by Walmart a few days ago for a few items--succulents!  I love succulents!  So of course I had to buy a few.

I have a small area in my backyard where I have had "hens and chicks" (biddies, as we used to call them in Florida) planted for several years.  They make it through the winter just fine.  I also have a couple of larger terra cotta pots with some planted in them that I place our front during the warmer months.  Do you have any favorite plants?  Comment below if you like!

Craft Ideas and Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Link Party 4/22/17

Welcome to today's Snickerdoodle Link Party!  How is your weekend going?  I have a paper for school to write, an exam to take, shopping to do, and a BIG mess at my house--remodeling going on.  I sure will appreciate it when it's over, though.

Here's what Two Chicks and a Mom posted this week:

We used this "guest book" at Staci's baby shower last summer when she had Parker.  Okay, it's a life preserver.....but family members and guests signed it (front and back) and now it hangs in Parker's nautical style nursery!  Click on this link for more info.

Onto our party!

Porch Ideas and Funtastic Friday 123

Welcome to Funtastic Friday!  How is your week going?  I hope the weather is warming up where you are--this weekend should be nice here in Northern Nevada.  I have purchased some bedding plants but don't think I am comfortable planting them just yet.

I have a couple of posts from last week's party that caught my eye (other than ALL of them and my Feature pick).

Deco Art has a fun Porch Spruce Up--it's time!  We were in North Carolina recently and it made me realize how much I miss having an actual porch--growing up in Florida we had porches!
While you are sprucing up the porch, how about adding some stenciled pots from The Real Thing with the Coake Family.

Before we move into the party, our cat Rory Gilmore #rorythecat hasn't been home since the night before Easter.  If you could say a little prayer or good thought for Rory to return home safely we would sure appreciate it!

Thanks for visiting and now to our party and Features.

Baby Shower Guest Book

Last May, Staci and Jon had their first baby, a little boy named Parker Scott.  Parker was born in Oahu and I would wonder if he is destined to be drawn to the surf and ocean?  His dad grew up on an Alaskan island and is now in the U.S. Coast Guard, his paternal grandpa is a commercial fisherman and the little family now lives just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean in North Carolina.  Pretty beachy!

Staci and Jon came home to Nevada for a bit when Parker was about a month old and we had a baby shower for the two of them.  Staci had mentioned that she wanted to decorate Parker's room (once they had a place of their own) in a nautical theme so we went with that theme for the shower.

One idea I had for the shower was to have a faux life preserver that could serve as guestbook and part of Parker's room decor.  Family members could sign it and shower guests, too.

I found a rather inexpensive cloth-covered life preserver on Amazon here.  No, I am not an Amazon affiliate so don't have a disclosure here lol.  I used a a Sharpie but felt like the lettering might bleed a bit so also had scrapbooking pens and regular ballpoint pens for people to use.

Uncle Aaron and Grandpa signed!

Uncle Elijah signed, "almost" Aunt Marissa signed, and so did Cousin Kate (6 years old).

Parker last summer.....

.....and Parker on Easter 2017.  He's a big boy at 11 months.

The life preserver/door decor/guest book now hangs on Parker's door into his room.  It was very easy and served multiple purposes.  Have you ever done anything different to use as a guest book?  Let us know in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by!
