Handmade Christmas Blog Hop 2016

Yes, you read that right-- Christmas.  Even though it is only February, we all know next Christmas will be upon us before we know it.  Several bloggers, myself included, have teamed up to bring you a handmade gift idea each month of 2016.  The "blogger of the month" will have a gift and tutorial on their blog and the rest of our group will include a link to that tutorial and (hopefully) our own version of the handmade gift to show you!

Since I am running a bit late, let me add a link for January's handmade gift from 2crochethooks:  No Sew Fleece Blankets.
The ladies of 2crochethooks have a complete, easy to follow tutorial so please stop by and check it out.

I didn't have a chance to make a new fleece blanket yet but here are two fleece blankets my daughter's and I made several years ago for a project.  The blankets were donated to the Children's Justice Center for Abused Children in Utah.  The blankets were then given to each child in need.

I have made these fleece blankets for each of my kids, for each of my grandkids, and we even made a blanket for each of our dogs:).  They do make great and cozy gifts.

We do hope you will follow along each month--hopefully you will find some handmade gifts to make along with us and be prepared for Christmas!

Super Saturday #4

Welcome to another Super Saturday!  Do you have Super Bowl plans for the weekend?  My favorite part of Super Bowl?  The commercials!  I hope they don't disappoint--the Budweiser Clydesdale horse never do!

Before we get started, did you check out our posts from this past week:  Mexican Lasagna and Staci's workout Chest and Triceps?  Make the lasagna, eat it, and then do the workout to burn calories!  Works great lol.

Let's check out the awesome posts and bloggers we are highlighting this week!

Being February, we seem to gravitate towards Valentine's posts but that is to be expected.  There are some cute and yummy posts out there.  This Ombre Yarn Heart is certainly one!  Staci chose this as her selection for this week.  Camille at Growing Up Gabel has a tutorial so you can have one, too!

Oh my goodness--too cute!  Gail at has made the cutest little owl:).  She has added some cheer to a very cold and snowy winter (at least in most places).

Some of you who follow us might know that Staci is an Exercise Science and Sports Nutrition major (she graduates in 3 weeks so we get to go to Hawaii!) and I am a former fitness instructor.  Our next pick shows our favoritism to fitness and that you can look fabulous while sweating.  Jackie at FreshFitFlorida shares a round-up of stylish Valentine's workout accessories and clothes.

Tomorrow being the Super Bowl, here is a perfect and sweet addition to your menu.  Chelc at has the recipe for you!  Go, team!

I am hungry as I prepare this post and this next selection just intensified my hunger!  Hamburger Sliders look so good and easy to make--this most likely will make our game menu this week!  Quinn at has some delicious recipes.

If you were Featured, please grab a button below and place on your blog--we would appreciate it so:).

We hope that you enjoyed our selection this week--please visit posts that caught you eye and leave a comment for the blogger so they know you found them at Super Saturday!  Thanks!

Chest and Triceps!

For today's workout moves I did some push-ups, regular and modified, as well as tricep dips- also regular and modified.  Very basic moves but if done properly and focused on enough, can get you great results.

Make sure on your push-ups that your back stays flat, hips and torso are straight, your shoulders are even with your hands, and your shoulders are back.  If you can't keep your back flat, modify by putting your knees on the ground.  Just lower your chest to the ground with your head and neck in neutral position (you should be looking straight down as you go down and come back up). Really try to keep it nice and controlled.
As some us pregnant ladies are further along, our babies might be bigger making push-ups harder.  If this is the case just use a wall for your push-ups or try other chest moves like chest presses with light dumbbells.

For the tricep dips, also keep your back nice and straight. Position your hands shoulder-width apart (make sure the chair or bench you are using is stable!)  If you don't have a chair or bench to use, just use the ground. Next you will slide your butt off the front of the chair with your legs extended out in front of you. Straighten your arms, keeping a little bend in your elbows to keep tension on your triceps and off your elbow joints.  Then slowly bend your elbows to lower your body toward the floor until your elbows are at about a 90-degree angle. Be sure to keep your back close to the bench. When you reach the bottom of the movement, press down into the bench to straighten your elbows, returning to the starting position. If you need to modify and make the move a bit easier, you can bend your legs as I do in the last part of the video.  If tricep dips are too hard for you, you can try other tricep moves such as tricep extensions or pull-downs.

Do 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps for push-ups and 15-20 reps tricep dips- if you can!  Don't strain or sacrifice form.  Do what you can. :)

*Make sure you check with your doctor before attempting any exercise program, especially if pregnant.
