WELCOME TO THE PARTY! Another week to the big 2-5-0 for our beautiful country! We will be in the Salt Lake Valley in Utah so looking for some fun events to attend! We used to spend the 4th in Utah quite often but it has been a few years. I do know that pilots from Hill Air Force Base in Roy will be doing flyovers over multiple Utah cities and towns on the morning of the 4th! We have seen them before and it is such a proud moment AND amazing how those pilots can fly over 4th of July parades or events at precisely the moment scheduled! Gives me chills when I see them! Let me know in the comments if you have any plans for the 4th.

Sunday, June 14th is Flag Day. I love Flag Day for a few reasons:

No school (when I was a child).

It's the same week as my birthday.

I love our country and our flag!

FUNTASTIC FRIDAY 595 AND SCHOOL IS OUT

Hello all! It's the last day of school here in Winnemucca, NV. Grandkids came over, as usual, for breakfast (Grandpa made Popeye Pancakes/Dutch Babies or other names as they are known as) and we made sure they got last day of school photos as Mama Staci was running a bit late today. Staci has been getting the kids packed to go to their dad's in Texas this summer. Staci will fly with them to Texas on Saturday and then she will fly back on Sunday, for work on Monday. We will miss those cute kids this summer!

POPEYE PANCAKES RECIPE

Hi there! Today I wanted to share a delicious recipe that I have had for many years. It was always a big hit for my boys, and then my girls later on. We made it today for our grandkids' last day of school (Mom drops them off before she goes to work). I have had people tell me they call them German Pancakes, Dutch Babies, etc. Have you made these and if so, what do you call them?

Lots of protein and sweet, too.

POPEYE PANCAKES 

Six Tablespoons butter

Six whole eggs

One cup milk

One cup all-purpose flour

One-half cup granulated sugar

One-half teaspoon vanilla extract

Dash salt

Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place butter in a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish and allow to melt. Meanwhile, add all other ingredients into blender pitcher and mix on high for about 2 minutes, until foamy. Pour over melted butter in pan. Allow to bake for approximately 20 minutes, till slightly golden on top. The pancakes will appear "bumpy" in some areas, thus the name "Popeye" (I supposed lol).

Serve with powdered sugar, jam or syrup, along with sausage, bacon, or fruit. Enjoy!

FUNTASTIC FRIDAY INTRO 5/29/26

Not sure what happened but a big chunk of FF was missing on Friday. See below:

Hello! Our Silkie chicks hatched a week ago today, just as we were leaving for Arizona. Only two of the eggs hatched but that gives each Susie and Sally a baby to care for. Haven't decided on names yet but all of our chickens are named after our grandmothers or great-grandmothers (except Susie and Sally, named after Silkies my family had when I was a child). So, I will need to do some family research to come up with old-fashioned names, such as Annie, Eva, Piety, Hallie, Hannah and Helen.

Anyone else here have backyard chickens? Let us know in the comments!
