Snickers Cake

My husbands birthday was on the 6th and his absolute favorite candy is Snickers.  I found a delicious recipe (from The Country Cook at thecountrycook.net) I thought I would share with everyone for a Snickers Cake- yum!  I made it the first time last year for his birthday and it seems it's going to be annual thing.  It's SO easy and SO delicious!

You will need:
  • a box of devil's food cake mix and the things needed to bake it (eggs and oil)
  • 8 oz container of Cool Whip (thawed)
  • chocolate syrup
  • a jar of caramel sauce (You can also get caramel syrup but I had some of the sauce left over and used that instead of also buying the syrup)
  • 3 Snickers candy bars
To start, you will bake the devils food cake as instructed on the box.  After it is baked you will poke holes in the cake and pour the caramel sauce over the cake and into the holes.  To make the holes you can use a meat fork which will make the holes bigger or if you only have a regular fork (like I did), just twist the fork when making the holes to make them bigger.  Take a spoon to make sure the cake gets covered in the sauce as well as into the holes.  Let the cake cool completely!
Chop up the 3 Snickers candy bars into bite size pieces.  Take the thawed Cool Whip and mix it with the Snickers pieces.  Once the cake has cooled, put the whip cream/Snickers combination over the cake, covering it completely.  Then you will simply put the chocolate syrup and caramel syrup or remaining caramel sauce over the top of the cake.  Make sure to refrigerate it!
You'll have something that looks like the first photo above!
It is oh so sweet but oh so good! It's a perfect cake if you only have a short amount of time to put something together, too.  Enjoy!
