Hello all and thanks for dropping by!
I recently decided to make a baby gift for our veterinarian--she is a young mom to a 2.5-year-old daughter and has a son due soon. My husband has known her family since before our vet was born, due to his many years of delivering UPS packages to them. She takes great care of our animals and was such a kind person when I took my animals to her clinic and I was battling cancer (side note: so far so good. I am having every three-month oncology check-ups and my exams and labs look great. Still plan on sharing my story someday but not sure why I haven't just yet).
Our vet was very excited to receive these cute burp cloths for her upcoming baby boy! She said that the ones she had had for her daughter were pretty stained and icky-looking so was thankful for these. I also added a teether/rattle, a book for her little girl, cookies, and a small bottle of body lotion for mama.
FABRIC
The fabric that I used you may remember if you browse our blog often. Our little town in Nevada doesn't have much in the way of fabric. Our Walmart Super Store recently remodeled and they don't carry much fabric at all! I have to shop in Reno or Boise when we head to those locations. I have found luck with ordering online from MICHAEL'S. I have bought several yards of various baby flannels and made RECEIVING BLANKETS from those. The only drawback is that you can't order partial yards--so if you need 1.5 yards, you will need to order 2 yards. Not a big issue since you can make these burp cloths with the left over!
TUTORIAL
I found the best FREE pattern and tutorial over at SWEET RED POPPY! This link will take you to the sewing page on their website, where you can then click on the link to receive access to the pattern and instructions. They go together so quickly, too, and are great for beginners.
I hope you have enjoyed this post and, as always,
thanks for stopping by!
