Hi there! Today I wanted to share a delicious recipe that I have had for many years. It was always a big hit for my boys, and then my girls later on. We made it today for our grandkids' last day of school (Mom drops them off before she goes to work). I have had people tell me they call them German Pancakes, Dutch Babies, etc. Have you made these and if so, what do you call them?
Lots of protein and sweet, too.
POPEYE PANCAKES
Six Tablespoons butter
Six whole eggs
One cup milk
One cup all-purpose flour
One-half cup granulated sugar
One-half teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash salt
Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place butter in a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish and allow to melt. Meanwhile, add all other ingredients into blender pitcher and mix on high for about 2 minutes, until foamy. Pour over melted butter in pan. Allow to bake for approximately 20 minutes, till slightly golden on top. The pancakes will appear "bumpy" in some areas, thus the name "Popeye" (I supposed lol).
Serve with powdered sugar, jam or syrup, along with sausage, bacon, or fruit. Enjoy!

This is one of our family's favorites, too. We call them Dutch Babies at our house. Happy-End-of-the-School-Year to you all!
ReplyDeleteI have a similar recipe (we call them German pancakes) and we love them! Such a fun way to celebrate the end of school with the grandkids. :) Visiting from Funtastic Friday.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar recipe, and also call them German pancakes. Your right they are a hit. Have a great summer with your grands.
ReplyDeleteVisiting today from Crazy Little Love Birds.
Thanks for stopping by Paula! Yes, I know those have a variety of names; I received this recipe from a lady at church back in the 80s and Popeye Pancakes are what she had them labeled as. It just stuck with our kids.
DeleteThis sounds so good! Featuring your post tomorrow at The Crazy Little Lovebirds link party. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stephanie!
DeleteI have never seen anyone make those here (in my part of Germany, but I have seen recipes for them), we bake our pancakes in a pan (some add baking powder, some like me don't).
ReplyDeleteI have heard from American friends, however, who made this in a Dutch oven.
Maybe I should give it a try!
Saw your feature at Stephanie's party, decided to pop by and I'm so glad I did. Yum! I've never had these before, but they look delicious! I just printed out the recipe and it's on the menu for the weekend!
