I know it is a little late in the season but I wanted to share this DIY ghost. My dear friend, Danyell (Instagram @danyellhalvorson), made the one below for me last month and I needed to make another one! Here is Danyell's:
Lights up, too!
Supplies for the DIY Ghost:
Hot glue gun and sticks
Ceiling fan or light shade cover, glass (my smaller one is approx. inches tall with a 1.5" opening; larger ghost is approx. 6" tall with a 1.5" opening for LED light) We actually purchased ours at a Habitat for Humanity thrift store for 50 cents so check thrift shops!
LED light (white or multi-colored)
Various trims, such as lace, pearl trim, rick rack, etc.
Black Sharpie or black paper or chalkboard stickers
Craft straw hat, optional
This looking up into the inside of the light cover. Use hot glue to adhere and leave a bit of the LED light above the outside lip.
Next, carefully wrap a layer of trim around the base of the cover. I used hot glue but you could also use other types of adhesive.
This trim has a wire edge so I bent and folded a bit as I went.
I added a layer of beaded trim to the bottom and top hem of the initial trim layer.
I added 3 layers to the top; one around the LED light, one around the base/top of the fixture and then one more to "finish" it off.
For the face, I had some black chalkboard stickers and just free-handed cutting it out. I spent WAY too much time fretting over it and finally just did that. You can also use a Black Sharpie/marker as Danyell did to draw a face on. Use your imagination to make your ghostie your own!
7 YO granddaughter, Oakli, thought my girlie ghost looked kind of bald so I appeased her by adding a straw hat I had in my craft stash lol. It just sits on her head so I can still turn the light on easily.
My LED light was multi-colored, which I didn't realize till I turned it on. It's okay that way.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Halloween!
