FUNTASTIC FRIDAY LINK PARTY 552 AND CHRISTMAS IN JULY FEATURE

Hello! Thanks for joining us for our link party. Here is it the end of July and school will be starting for many kids in the next few weeks. I'm old enough to remember when we got out of school the Friday before Memorial Day and went back the day after Labor Day. Well, I don't have that to worry about these days, but we do help out with the two youngest grandkids and they do start back on August 18th.

First, we are off to Alaska via Holland America this weekend! First cruise and we are excited (by we, I mean my husband and I). For shore excursions, we will be whale watching near Juneau, going to a raptor rescue and watching bears (from afar, I hope) in Sitka and a tour of the area in Ketchikan and also in Victoria, BC.

Excited to board the ship and go on our very first cruise!

FUNTASTIC FRIDAY LINK PARTY 551 AND PIZZA BREAD RECIPE

Here it is, almost the end of July! I guess time does fly by as you get older (I never thought that as a kid). I have spent quite a bit of time, getting things ready for my husband and I to go on our Alaskan cruise in August! I have never been on a cruise before and so many have told us how much they enjoyed the Alaskan cruises (we knew one couple who would go every two years on an Alaskan cruise.). We are familiar with Alaska, as Staci lived there for several years. I've been making sure we are prepared for out shore excursions (whale watching in Juneau, various tours in Ketchikan and Sitka, and a walking tour in Victoria, B.C. Also, making sure we are fetching for our anniversary (which was in April) dinner and for the Gala dinner. I chose our anniversary for a special dinner but I was torn; do I choose to celebrate my cancer recovery? My husband's retirement? The anniversary won out lol.

I've had some nice tips from other bloggers already but if anyone has any for any of the ship's daily activities, how fancy you went on dinner dress, or if anyone had any seasickness, (we do have scopolamine patches) etc., comment below! We are cruising on the Westerdam thru Holland America.

Since July is almost over, wanted to share our CHRISTMAS IN JULY post. Nothing like getting a head start on December!

FUNTASTIC FRIDAY LINK PARTY 550 AND IDEAS GALORE

This last weekend, Staci and I attended a baby shower for the daughter of a wonderful family we have known for quite a few years. They are ranchers/farmers and so I wanted to make a One Hour Baby Blanket for her with just the right themed fabric (flannel). We don't have much in the way of fabric choices in our small Nevada town and our Walmart is remodeling so good look finding anything! I searched online and finally found some cute and just right flannel on Michael's website. I ordered on a Sunday evening and had the fabric that Tuesday so great service!

Such cute fabric! I love the cowboy cat on one side and the "Hey, Cowboy!" on the other.

The quality of the flannel was nice, too, even after a washing. You can find the link to the post and link to a tutorial HERE.

ROOTIN' TOOTIN' ONE HOUR COWBOY BABY BLANKET

I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to sew a couple of flannel baby blankets this summer! A lovely, talented friend in town recently had a baby boy so made her a whale-themed blanket here.

The oldest daughter of a local family very dear to my heart is expecting a baby boy on September 1st. The family and the in-law family are ranchers/farmers so I naturally wanted to find fabric with a Western flair or cows or horses, suitable for a little buckaroo.

However, as I have written before, there isn't a lot of fabric choices in our small town. Our Walmart is currently undergoing a full remodel and fabric is slim pickings. I was fortunate, however, to find just the right fabrics on Michael's website! I was even happy with the quality of the flannel, even after washing. No pilling and no shrinkage.
