ONE HOUR BABY BLANKET 2025

🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

I needed a baby gift for a sweet friend of mine, who just welcomed her 4th baby and 3rd son.
Yay!
I went to Hobby Lobby in Reno, as there isn't much of a selection in our small town. No JoAnn's anymore, either--boo! Our local Walmart is remodeling, and I could only find fat quarters--not what I needed. Hoping they have bolts of fabric for sale once the remodel is complete.
Luckily, I did find this adorable whale fabric at Hobby Lobby and I will tell you later in the -post why this was my Number 1 choice.
🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

I think that could be a shark above, but it also doubles as a whale toy lol. Well, it is the 50th anniversary of "Jaws," this summer.
🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

I bought both the whale flannel (44" wide) and the blue backing flannel (44" wide) at Hobby Lobby. I did, however, have a difficult time finding rick rack that would match the whale fabric. I really was looking for something the same color as the small dots of color on the narwhal and didn't find anything that I was happy with so just decided to forego it.
🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

I used a zigzag stitch to sew the fabrics together, then did a border zigzag stitch for looks.
🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

Lots of swimmin' going on in this fabric.
🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋

Happy little whales!

Here is another baby blanket I made for my grandson, Parker, a few years back.

More whales lol.

The blanket below I made for granddaughter Oakli.

Blankets made over the years. The cute blue and pink floral in the middle of the three blankets was made by a friend for my daughter Staci.

You can find all instructions for the blanket HERE.

Now, the reason why I specifically chose a whale fabric for my friend's baby boy is because my friend is a published children's book author and fantastic artist, Haley Argyle. Her most recent work, JAMES LAMAR AND THE EMPTY JAR, is a fun read, full of colorful illustrations and a creative story.
Included within the illustrations is a WHALE. So, of course, when I saw the whale fabric, I had to choose that one for baby's blanket!

You can purchase Haley's book by using the link above or HERE. (I'm not an Amazon affiliate).

I hope you enjoyed the baby blanket tutorial and info today.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!

Let's get this PARTY started!

June 21 at 10:42 A.M. EDT!

Do you have any fun plans for summer? My husband and I are taking out first-ever cruise to Alaska in August. Looking forward to it but all the ins and outs of cruising (booking shore excursions, transportation from and to the ship, etc.) is more than I was aware of lol. Any tips for me? Comment below!

GRADUATION (OR ANY) PARTY LOADED GIFT JAR 2025

Being graduation season, I'm always looking for a creative way to gift a grad. In the past, I have made these DIY GRADUATION GIFT PERSONAL PINATAS and filled with goodies and cash.

This year, I had two girls to give gifts to. I knew I wanted to add mini-sized candy bars that they liked, cash and some writing pens that I order off and on throughout the year to gift people. When I was a Nursing Supervisor, I would order those pens for my staff and others in the clinic--they are so fun. I order them from Amazon and here is a sample of what I put in the gifts this year. I just can't stop ordering cute pens!

They didn't fit in the small pinatas that I had purchased at Walmart (above) so put my thinking cap on. I decided small glass jars with a lock lid may work. After the treats are removed, they can use the jars at college for storage (makeup accessories, desk supplies, change, etc.). Off I went to Walmart and found just the right size. You may also find jars at Dollar Tree as they have a large variety, too.

I asked what the favorite candy was for each and bought a bag of sour gummy worms (who doesn't like those?), mini-Butterfingers for one and Mini-Snickers for another. The pens I bound together with a rubber band and placed that bundle in before adding the candy. Here's how I presented the cash:

I used Washi tape to hold the bill together, after rolling it up. I added those bills throughout the jar, so it would be aesthetically pleasing lol. What grad doesn't want to see cash?

I used chalkboard adhesive labels to write their names on each jar, then used Sakura Gelly Roll Bright White pens to add names and embellishment. Well, I wrote on the labels first because writing after they were on the jars may not have worked out so well.

Here are some other views of the jars:

These jars can be used for birthdays, too! With a variety of sizes in the jars, you can fit a lot of different gift items in them. Then the jars can be used for odds and ends later.

HAPPY GRADUATION TO ALL THE GRADUATES OF 2025!
